STA-21 Program
If you have already been selected
for the program, congratulations and see our welcome
aboard information!
If you are considering to apply for
the program, best of luck! The NROTC Unit at Texas A&M University
is an excellent choice for your college degree, continued professional
development
and place of commissioning. Texas A&M is a superb academic institution
offering both technical and non-technical degrees. The college
is a senior military school. However, you will not participate
in other Corps military
activities unless by choice. We have a long history of success
with
the former Enlisted Commissioning Program (ECP) and this forms
our keel of
success for our STA-21 officer candidates.
Here are just a few of the benefits
of attending Texas A&M:
World Class Education
Texas A&M is one
of the best universities in the world, and a diploma from Texas
A&M
says that you have what it takes to succeed anywhere in the world.
(Engineering
Facts & Stats)
Great Education Value
Texas A&M
is a state-supported university. What does that mean to you?
It means that the world class education we
offer comes at a very low price. Our average tuition for a full
time student is about $6,000 per year. That's right, per year. Many
universities cost
more per semester! Compare that to any other university of equal
caliber. You'll be hard pressed to find a better price for that
quality of education.
Low Cost of Living
Texas is one of the
cheapest states to live in. We have no state income tax. Sales
taxes are very low.
Housing is extremely
affordable. Your dollar just goes further here.
Spouse Employment
Opportunities
Due to its constant growth and the abundant
employment opportunities of Texas A&M University, College Station,
Texas was recently recognized as having the lowest unemployment
rate in the nation! That statistic is very important to a budding
young family that has to move around a lot!
Student Focus
We
recognize your true purpose for coming to Texas A&M:
to get an education. We want you to focus on your degree. Although
we depend on you to be role models and leaders for the Corps
of Cadets, we do not
require you to participate as a member. Your interaction with
the Corps of Cadets will be limited to a two-hour training period
every Thursday and a few social functions.
Location
College Station
has the best of both worlds: small town and big city. College
Station, Texas has about 120,000 residents, small enough
to have a "home town" feel, but big enough to provide access
to plenty of entertainment and necessities. If big city is more your
style, College Station is centrally located between three of the
ten largest cities
in the nation: San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas.
Atmosphere
Last,
but certainly not least: being in Aggieland. Texas A&M
has one of the best college atmospheres, Aggie Spirit we call
it. Make your college experience complete, attend a university
with a rich tradition
like Texas A&M. Texas A&M alumni pour millions of dollars in
contributions into the university each year to support local
scholarships and building
funds. Why? Ask any former Aggie. The answer will probably be
because it was one of the best experiences of their lives, and
they hope
others, like
you, can experience it, too.
