Of note, MECEP students are not in the Corps of Cadets, nor do they have to participate in Corps of Cadets activities. Texas A&M University does require the SAT I or ACT with writing component for freshman application. MECEP Marine transfer applicants may enhance their application with a competitive score on the SAT I or ACT with writing component.

Texas A&M is a state-supported university, offering a prestigious education at an affordable price. Average tuition for a full time student is about $8,000 per year. That’s right, per year. Many universities cost more per semester! Furthermore, all military personnel stationed in Texas qualify for in-state tuition. The GI Bill-Active Duty completely covers all tuition and fees for Texas A&M University. Many scholarships and grants are available to help offset other costs.

Premier Professional Development Program
The history and size of our program afford great opportunities for you to prepare yourself as an Officer of Marines. With an average of sixty Marines and Midshipmen pursuing Marine commissions, four Marines on staff, and a wealth of training resources such as obstacle and land navigation courses, an indoor pistol range and other assets, we are able to conduct focused, relevant training to prepare you for the rigors of OCS, TBS, and beyond. The large number of Marines in the MECEP at TAMU ensures that you do not get lost in the crowd and fosters the camaraderie and esprit that drew most of us to the Marine Corps in the first place. TAMU graduates enjoy a reputation of professional excellence within the Marine Corps that parallels the recognition their civilian counterparts enjoy in agriculture, business, engineering, and science.

Student Focus
Understanding that your primary goals are a quality education and commission, we want you to focus on your degree and earn the highest grades possible, yet still maintain an enjoyable family or social life. You may be asked to teach BST-type classes occasionally, and there are one or two weekend events per semester, but your schedule will not be filled with unnecessary activities.
Location
Bryan-College Station has the best of both worlds: small town and big city. With approximately 120,000 residents, the area offers a small town atmosphere, yet it is big enough to provide access to plenty of entertainment, restaurants, and recreational opportunities. The new student survey is for MECEPs that are interested in attending Texas A&M. The staff uses it to help determine an appropriate sponsor depending on your interests and family situation.
